PaletAI Community Guidelines
PaletAI is a community-driven platform where users can create and play AI-generated games. To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone, we've established these Community Guidelines. Our app is intended for users aged 13 and up, so all content and behavior must be appropriate for at least a teen audience. By using PaletAI, you agree to follow these guidelines. These rules help us maintain compliance with legal standards and App Store policies, and they allow creativity to flourish without harm. Violations may result in content removal, account restrictions, or other actions as described below.
General Conduct
We expect all members of the PaletAI community to treat each other with respect and to use the platform responsibly. The following general rules of conduct apply to all interactions (in-game content, chat, profiles, etc.) on PaletAI:
- Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to use PaletAI. Accounts found to be operated by children under 13 will be removed in accordance with COPPA and App Store requirements. If you are between 13 and 17, ensure you have parental permission to use the app. All content should be suitable for ages 13+
- Respect and Harassment: Treat other users with kindness and respect. Harassment, bullying, and personal attacks are not allowed. Do not threaten violence or encourage others to harm themselves or anyone else. Creating games or content intended to shame or bully a person or group is prohibited. We have zero tolerance for hate speech – any content that promotes or glorifies hatred, violence, or discrimination against others based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristics is strictly forbidden.
- No Inappropriate Content: PaletAI does not allow pornographic or sexually explicit content. Nudity and sexual content (especially any content involving minors, which is absolutely forbidden) have no place on this platform. Keep language and content clean; avoid excessive profanity or obscene language. Content that is excessively vulgar or graphic will be removed.
- Violence and Gore: Some level of fantasy or cartoon violence in games may be acceptable (given the app’s 13+ rating), but extreme or realistic violence and gore are not. Do not create content that depicts people or animals being tortured, mutilated, or excessively harmed. Games must not encourage players to commit real-world violence or glorify acts of cruelty. Violence against a specific real-world group or any content that encourages hate or terrorism is strictly prohibited.
- Self-Harm and Safety: Content that encourages or depicts suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or other dangerous behaviors in a positive light is not allowed. Do not create games that could be seen as promoting or trivializing self-injury or mental health crises. If such topics appear (for instance, in a narrative), they should be handled with extreme sensitivity and ideally include supportive or educational context. Content that might trigger vulnerable individuals should be avoided. We care about our users' well-being.
- Illegal Activities and Drugs: Do not use PaletAI to engage in or promote illegal activities. This includes content that depicts or encourages the use of illegal drugs, underage drinking or smoking, theft, vandalism, or any other criminal behavior. You also may not use the platform to sell or trade illegal goods or services. Avoid making games that depict these activities in a positive or instructional manner. (Educational content that clearly denounces these activities might be permitted, but if in doubt, leave it out.)
- Spam, Scams, and Malicious Content: Keep the community free of spam and malicious behavior. Do not repeatedly post duplicate content or unwelcome self-promotion. Scamming, phishing, or attempting to defraud users is strictly forbidden. Likewise, do not share malware, viruses, or any content that could harm others’ devices or accounts. Impersonating PaletAI staff or other users, or otherwise misleading others for personal gain, is not allowed.
By following these general conduct rules, you help make PaletAI a welcoming and safe space for all users.
Game Content Rules
Creators on PaletAI are empowered to design games using AI-generated content. With this creativity comes responsibility. All games you create must adhere to the standards above and the specific rules below:
- Follow General Content Standards: All the prohibited content listed under General Conduct (hate speech, sexual content, extreme violence, etc.) applies to your games. If something isn’t allowed in a post or comment, it’s also not allowed in an AI-generated game. Ensure that any text, images, characters, or storyline in your game would be considered appropriate for a 13+ audience.
- Appropriate Themes and Tone: Design games with an age-appropriate tone. Do not include mature or adult-only themes. For example, avoid graphic horror, sexual scenarios, or extreme violence in your game’s story, visuals, or objectives. If your game includes combat or conflict, keep it cartoon-like or moderate rather than gory or realistic. Remember that PaletAI is a family-friendly platform; when in doubt about content, err on the side of caution and make it milder.
- No Harmful or Sensitive Prompts: When using AI to generate game content, do not input prompts that violate our guidelines. For instance, do not ask the AI to produce erotic content, detailed gore, hate symbols, or anything disallowed. Attempting to trick or circumvent the AI filters to generate banned material is a violation of the rules. If the AI accidentally produces any content that violates the guidelines, do not publish that content – remove or change it immediately. Creators are responsible for reviewing the AI-generated output before publishing to ensure it’s compliant.
- Original Content and No Plagiarism: Strive to create original games and stories. Do not plagiarize levels, storylines, characters, or content from other creators on PaletAI or from existing games and media. It’s okay to be inspired by your favorite genres or styles, but blatant copies or clones of someone else’s work are not allowed. Not only does originality respect other creators, but it also makes your game more enjoyable and unique.
- Intellectual Property Respect: Do not incorporate copyrighted or trademarked material that you don’t have rights to (see the "Intellectual Property" section below for details). For example, you shouldn’t make a game starring Mickey Mouse or using Harry Potter’s story unless you have permission from the rights holders. Using famous characters, real logos, or copyrighted music/art without authorization is against the rules. Always use assets (images, text, music) that you created yourself, that the AI provided, or that are clearly free to use.
- Realism and Sensitive Content: Avoid extremely realistic depictions of sensitive events (e.g., terrorist attacks, mass violence, tragedies), especially if they could be seen as exploitative or in poor taste. Do not create games that trivialize or exploit real-world crises or controversial issues just for shock value or entertainment. PaletAI is not a place for political propaganda or graphic reenactments of news events. If your game does touch on a sensitive topic, handle it responsibly and ensure it's within appropriate bounds (or consider choosing a different theme).
- No Personal Data or Privacy Violations: When creating games, do not include personal information about yourself or others in the content. This means avoiding things like real names (beyond a first name), addresses, phone numbers, photographs of real people, or other identifying details in your game’s narrative or assets. Protect your privacy and others’. Never encourage players to reveal personal info either. Games should remain fun and safe without veering into personal data.
- Fair Play: Do not design games that cheat or exploit players. For example, a game that intentionally crashes someone’s app, or one that tricks users into unwanted actions, is not allowed. Games should be made in good faith to entertain or challenge players, not to abuse them. Also, do not integrate any external hacks or unauthorized code into your PaletAI games (if such integration were possible) – the platform should remain secure and fair for everyone.
By following these game content rules, you help ensure the platform’s AI creations are enjoyable and safe for the community. We want you to be creative, but always within the boundaries of respectful and lawful content.
Intellectual Property
PaletAI respects intellectual property rights and expects our users to do the same. When creating content, make sure you only use material that you have the rights to use. Here are our policies regarding copyright, trademarks, and other IP:
- Use Your Own or Licensed Content: The safest rule is: if you didn’t create it, or you don’t have permission, don’t use it. This applies to everything in your game – the storyline, characters, images, music, sound effects, and code. For example, do not upload a graphic you found on the internet, include a popular song as background music, or lift a storyline directly from a movie or book, unless you have explicit permission or the content is in the public domain.
- Don’t Use Famous Characters or Brands Without Permission: We know it’s tempting to make a game starring your favorite superhero or video game character, but doing so would likely violate copyright/trademark laws. Avoid using copyrighted characters, trademarks, or iconic real-life figures in your games unless you have legal rights (which most users won’t for well-known IP). This also includes not recreating exact levels or plots from existing games, and not using real company logos or brand names in your content. Essentially, don’t piggyback on someone else’s creations or brand identity.
- Fan Content Caution: Even if you label something as a “fan” project, it might still infringe on the owner's rights. Some companies allow fan creations under certain guidelines, but many do not. To be safe, create original characters and stories. If you reference an existing work, make sure you are within legal fair use boundaries (e.g., a brief parody or homage) – but remember, fair use is complex and limited. When in doubt, leave it out.
- Copyright Infringement Consequences: If we find (or receive a report) that your game contains unlicensed copyrighted material or other IP violations, we may remove or disable that content. PaletAI complies with copyright laws (including the DMCA). This means if a copyright owner sends us a valid takedown notice regarding something you’ve posted, we will take it down and notify you. Repeated infringements or particularly egregious cases could result in account penalties or termination.
- Respect Others’ Work: Just as you wouldn’t want someone copying your original game, don’t copy someone else’s work. If you believe a user’s content on PaletAI infringes your (or someone else’s) intellectual property, you can report it via our infringement report process (for example, by contacting support with details and proof of ownership). We investigate such reports and will remove any content that violates IP rights.
- Trademarks and Impersonation: Do not use names, titles, or images in a way that confuses others about the source or endorsement of your game. For instance, don’t name your game “Super Mario Bros 4” or “Fortnite 2” as if it were an official sequel – that’s misleading and likely a trademark issue. Also, don’t impersonate companies or public figures. Be authentic with your content and branding within PaletAI.
Following these IP guidelines protects you as a creator and the community as a whole. It ensures that PaletAI remains a place for original, legal, and fair content. When in doubt about using something, choose not to use it or seek content that is clearly free to use.
Moderation and Reporting
PaletAI is committed to maintaining a healthy environment through active moderation and community reporting. We provide tools for users to control their experience and to alert us of any issues:
- Content Monitoring: Our team and automated systems continuously monitor public content on PaletAI for violations of these guidelines. However, with many creations being made, we appreciate user help in catching what we might miss. If you see something that seems inappropriate or unsafe, please report it.
- Reporting Games or Users: If you encounter a game, comment, or user that violates these Community Guidelines, use the in-app “Report” feature to let us know. Every game or user profile has a report option (usually accessible via a menu or button). When you report content:
- That content (game, comment, etc.) will be hidden from your view immediately.
- Our moderation team will review the reported material typically within 24 hours (often sooner). We aim to address urgent issues as quickly as possible.
- We encourage you to include a brief description of what the violation is when prompted (e.g., “harassment” or “hate speech”) to help our moderators understand the issue.
- Blocking Users: If another user is harassing you or you simply do not want to see someone’s content, you can block the user. Blocking prevents them from contacting you or interacting with you, and their games will not appear in your feed. This is a personal safety tool: if someone’s behavior bothers you (even if it might not violate a specific rule), you have control over your experience. Use the block function as needed to create your comfort zone on PaletAI.
- Moderation Process: Once something is reported, our team reviews it against these guidelines and our policies. If we determine that the content violates the rules, we will take appropriate action, which could include removing the content and issuing a warning or penalty to the user who posted it (see Account Enforcement below for possible consequences). If we find the content is not in violation, we may restore it (if it was taken down) or simply mark the report as resolved with no action. We strive to make these decisions fairly and consistently, always with the safety of the community in mind.
- Timeliness: We aim to review all reports within 24 hours. In many cases, clear-cut violations (like explicit nudity or hate speech) will be handled much faster. However, more complex cases might take longer to ensure we understand the context and make the right call. Rest assured, we are working diligently to keep PaletAI safe and will address each report as soon as we can.
- No Retaliation: Do not retaliate against someone you suspect reported you, and conversely, do not harass someone over content they posted. Let the PaletAI team handle enforcement. Misusing the reporting system (for instance, filing false reports maliciously) is itself a violation of these guidelines.
- Community Moderation Features: We may introduce additional moderation features (like content filters or age labels for games). Follow any rules associated with these features. For example, if we allow certain content to be marked with a warning or age label, ensure you use these tools honestly. Mislabeling content to bypass restrictions will be treated as an attempt to evade the rules.
- Contacting Moderators: You can always reach out to the PaletAI team via the in-app support chat or email (see the Appeals and Contact section) if you feel a situation needs special or urgent attention. For example, if you encounter someone expressing intent to self-harm or see extremely egregious content that might require immediate action, let us know. We have staff monitoring for urgent support requests.
Your reports and cooperation help us maintain a safe space. We appreciate users who take the time to report problems or use the block tools responsibly. Together, the community and PaletAI staff can keep the platform fun and welcoming.
Account Enforcement
Users who violate these Community Guidelines (or our Terms of Service) will face consequences. PaletAI uses a system of enforcement that considers the severity of the offense and the user’s history. Our goal is to educate first, but we will take stronger action if problems persist or in cases of severe misconduct. Possible enforcement actions include:
- Warning Notices: For a first-time or minor violation, you may receive a warning. This is a private notice explaining what rule was broken and instructions on how to correct it moving forward. Warnings are meant to be educational – they give you a chance to learn the rules and avoid future issues. (Example: if you unknowingly used an image with a minor copyrighted element, we might remove it and warn you to use only original or free-to-use images next time.)
- Content Removal: We will remove or disable any content (games, posts, usernames, etc.) that violates our guidelines. In most cases, you will be notified when your content is removed and informed which guideline it violated. Serious or obvious violations may be removed without prior warning (especially if the content could harm users, is illegal, or is extremely offensive). Do not attempt to re-post content that has been removed; doing so will lead to further action.
- Temporary Restrictions: For more serious violations or repeated minor ones, your account may face temporary restrictions. This can include a temporary suspension – meaning you will not be able to access your account or certain features for a set period (e.g., 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, or longer depending on severity). It could also involve temporary loss of specific abilities (for example, you might be blocked from creating new games or from using chat features for a time). We will inform you of the length of the restriction and the reason for it. Once the suspension period ends, you can resume using PaletAI, but please be mindful of the rules to avoid further action.
- Permanent Ban: If you continuously or egregiously violate the guidelines, your account may be permanently banned. This is a last resort for severe misconduct — for example, posting exploitative sexual content, extreme hate speech, or dangerous illegal content can lead to an immediate ban. A permanent ban means you will no longer be allowed to use PaletAI at all. If your account is banned, all content associated with your account may be removed, and you will lose access to your creations and any purchases or progress associated with the account. We reserve the right to enforce a permanent ban without prior warnings in extreme cases to protect the community and comply with law.
- Ban Evasion and Multiple Accounts: Creating new accounts to evade a suspension or ban is prohibited. If you are caught evading a ban, those accounts will be banned as well, and we may escalate to a permanent ban or extend existing bans. In serious cases, we might implement device or IP bans to prevent further evasion, especially for users who engage in harassment or post illegal content.
- Legal Action and Reporting: Some violations might also break the law (for example, child exploitation, credible threats of violence, or sharing someone’s private personal information). In such cases, PaletAI will cooperate with law enforcement and may report the content and the user to the appropriate authorities. Your safety and the safety of our community is our top priority.
- Notification and Transparency: We aim to be transparent when we take action on your account. If your content is removed or your account is suspended or banned, you will usually receive a notification (via app or email) explaining the action and reason, except in cases where we are legally prevented from notifying you or if notification could cause additional harm. If you have questions about an enforcement action, you can reach out to us (see below) to seek clarification or to appeal if applicable.
- Clean Slate: Minor violations from long ago that were addressed and not repeated are generally forgiven. We focus on your recent behavior and overall pattern. That said, serious violations will always remain on record. Strive to be a positive member of the community, and you shouldn’t have to worry about enforcement.
We truly hope never to have to ban anyone. These actions are in place to protect our community and ensure PaletAI remains a place for positive creativity. Follow the rules and use common sense, and we’ll all get along great.
Appeals and Contact
We understand that moderation decisions or enforcement actions might sometimes be disputed or could even be made in error. PaletAI provides a way for you to appeal decisions and to contact us for any questions or support needs.
- Appealing a Moderation Decision: If your content was removed or your account was subject to a penalty (warning, suspension, ban) and you believe this was a mistake or unfair, you have the right to appeal. To appeal, contact PaletAI Support within a reasonable time of the action (for example, within 7 days of a content removal or within 30 days of an account suspension). In your appeal, include:
- Your username and the email associated with your PaletAI account.
- Details of the action taken against you (what content was removed or what penalty was applied, and the date it happened).
- A clear and polite explanation of why you think the decision should be reconsidered. Provide any relevant context or evidence. For instance, if you believe your removed content did not violate the guidelines or was misinterpreted, explain why. If you have rights to content that was flagged as infringing, let us know that as well.
- Appeals can be submitted through the in-app support system or by emailing our support team at support@palet-ai.com.
- Appeal Review Process: When we receive an appeal, a member of our team (someone who was not involved in the original decision, when possible) will review the case. They will re-evaluate the content or behavior in question alongside your explanation and our guidelines.
- If the appeal is accepted (meaning we determine a mistake was made or new information shows the content is acceptable), we will reverse the action. This means we might restore removed content, lift a suspension, or reactivate a banned account as appropriate. We will notify you of this outcome and welcome you back.
- If the appeal is denied, the original decision stands. We will inform you that we upheld the action and, if possible, provide a brief explanation. Please understand that for serious violations, reversals are unlikely, as we prioritize community safety.
- During the review process, any temporary suspension usually remains in effect. We try to resolve appeals as quickly as we can (generally within a few days), but some cases may take longer if they are complex.
- Repeated appeals without new evidence will not change the outcome. If we have reviewed your case and given a final decision, please respect that result. Misusing the appeal process (for example, sending aggressive or threatening messages to the support team) can result in further action.
- Contacting Support: For any other questions or concerns about PaletAI, or if you need help with features (like reporting or account settings), you can reach out to our support team. The primary contact method is via email at support@paletai.com or through the “Help & Support” section in the app/website. We aim to respond to support inquiries promptly (typically within 1-2 business days). Whether you have a question about these guidelines, want to report a bug, or have suggestions for improvement, we’re here to listen.
- Emergency Concerns: If you need to report an urgent safety issue (such as someone threatening real-world harm, or any situation where someone might be in danger), please contact us immediately through the app or at our support email with the subject "URGENT:" in your message. We take such reports very seriously and will act on them as a top priority.
- Additional Resources: We may publish a FAQ or additional documentation on our website covering common questions about content rules and moderation. Check the PaletAI website or app for any links to safety centers or policy FAQs if you’re looking for more detailed examples or clarifications about these guidelines.
- Policy Updates: These Community Guidelines may be updated over time as our platform evolves or policies change (for example, to stay in line with new laws or App Store requirements, or to address new types of content). We will notify users in-app or via email of major changes. We encourage you to review the guidelines periodically. By continuing to use PaletAI, you agree to the latest version of the Community Guidelines.
Thank you for being a part of PaletAI! By following these guidelines, you’re helping to build a positive, creative, and safe community where everyone can have fun with AI-generated games. We appreciate your cooperation and creativity. If we all work together and respect these rules, PaletAI will remain a vibrant platform for play and imagination for users 13 and up. Let’s keep it fun and safe for everyone!
